Founder

For nearly 20 years, Annisa Aaliyya focused most of her practice on the traditional spheres of IP from initial filings to prosecution and  enforcement. However, her interest for environmental issues led her to include corporate environmental responsibility as part of her practice.

The future of IP is changing. Annisa’s approach to IP advocacy helps her clients get ahead of what is coming. She asks this one ’elephant in the boardroom question: “Who says Intellectual Property has no relationship with environmental sustainability?” Every business should answer this question by including a focus on aligning environmental protection in their business model, messaging and branding to remain relevant, retain existing and attract new customers.

Annisa was educated in Malaysia, Singapore and the UK where she has a BA (Hons) in Social Sciences with a major in Law. She is a Barrister-at-Law member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. She has an inter-disciplinary background in international relations and diplomacy where her final thesis for her MA Global Diplomacy with the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies was entiltled “Global Environmental Governance and the Challenge of Capitalism”.

She is a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) where she serves on the Designs Sub-Committee for 2019 to 2020 for the APAA Malaysia Group. She is also a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), European Community Trademark Association (ECTA) and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). In her previous tenures at other IP firms in Kuala Lumpur she co-authored articles for The World Trademark Law Reporter and The Copyright Law Reporter under her then name, Dorothy Chua. She was selected as a WIPR Leader 2019 for Trademarks.
